Club Background And History
The premises of Top Ten in Rhyl are quite interesting, as the owners have managed to add their name to building's facade and have managed to have in in keeping with the buildings original style. It was originally the Odeon Cinema which opened in 1937, and for a small town it had quite a large capacity of 1,408 seats. The design was Art Deco, like many other cinemas of the era, and as you can see from the picture below, the original exterior cream tiles are still evident. The cinema screens were tripled in 1972, when the venue was taken over by the Hutchinson Leisure Group and re-named Astra Cinema. Apollo took over in the eighties but after a decade of declining cinema attendances decided to call time on bingo in 1995, and open up for bingo.
