Club Background And History
Located in the centre of Loughborough, Beacon Bingo has a large bar and a diner, and although a modern bingo operation, the club has been around for years, and resides in the premises of an old theatre.
Originally opened in 1936 as the Odeon Theatre, it had a reasonable seating of 1,625. As you can see from the image below, the exterior is still in a reasonable condition, with the original Hathernware faience tiles in view. It lasted a cinema until 1974, having undergone a name change to Classic Cinema, and a brief stint as the Vogue Social Club. Mecca Bingo were the first owners of the bingo operation, but latterly the club is under ownership of Beacon Bingo. It is now a Grade II listed building.

It is very expensive, not many people go any more and the winnings are very poor. The intervals are far too long too.

Electronic Boards Complaint
I've been a member for 10 years, the place used to be packed 5/7 nights a week. Electronic boards appeared & people soon stopped going due to cost. They should have 1 day/night of books only for £10 all in, the place would be packed bring back the good old days.

Exciting And Interesting
I cannot comment on whether people have stopped going to Beacon. I've been going for 6 months. I travel weekly from Nottingham and I find the games to be far more interesting and the actual Beacon with the option of winning thousands very exciting. Compared to other Bingo in Nottingham, Beacon is best by far. Not too fancy, just pleasant. Of course if people find bingo too expensive then go less and buy less books. Oh, and maybe a newspaper for the interval.
