The staff are very unfriendly and swear in front of customers. The only decent staff there are; Leanne, Daz, Krissi, Ryan and Dan. Even the bar staff are unapproachable! I would not recommend this Castle Club and seriously think head office should consider reviewing the staffing issues. Even the new manager Serena has an attitude problem.

The Positives: Staff are, warm, friendly, accommodating and all have different, yet outgoing personalities that make the visits most enjoyable. Food and drink are good and keenly priced. Club decor is modern, bright and cheerful, seating is comfortable. There are many chances to win spot prizes on the mini bingo. 5 out of 5 for the positives.
The Negatives: Mini cash bingo prices can be: 25p, 50p or £1.00 games, whether lines or full houses. (Line games are 25p plays) however; with 200 x £1.00 players, the money paid in is £200.00, but the prize payout rarely goes over £100.00. It seems the club makes a pre tax profit of 100% of stake every 3 or so minutes that such games are played, and so it go's proportionately with the 25p, and 50p games, though to be fair, they do offer "guaranteed" pay outs, but these are (only to those who can see), topped up with stake money from earlier games. Mini cash "link up" games are 50p & £1.00, but even then the prize money is barely half the stake.
The club offers the use of Gamemate machines, which can handle multiple sets of books; the club encourages their use by offering free sets of books the more you load onto them. This is NOT RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING! In America such machines have been banned in many states.
Gamemate machines are offered at every session, and often is the case where several of them haven't had their batteries fully charged, resulting in a player shouting "hang on a minute" or "Ted's gone dead" (nickname for Gamemate is "Ted") the floor staff then have to get another Gamemate from ticket sales, on numerous occasions the Gamemate that's just been replaced calls "house" within 2 or 3 numbers, you have to question the integrity of such machines, was this a "genuine" win?, you decide.
I've seen a number of individuals operate several Gamemates at once, so the odds are stacked well against paper book players every time. One way to make the game fair would be to limit Gamemates to NO MORE THAN 2 sets of books, and ONE machine only per player, anybody seen operating two or more should have them all confiscated with no refunds.
In respect of Gamemates I've heard a great number of players' voice similar misgivings about their use, so, by all means play and enjoy your evening(s) there but as well as keeping your ears open, keep your eyes peeled for how many times Gamemates win versus paper books. (You'll be surprised) When the floor staff calls back ticket serial numbers, Gamemates will always be 5 or 6 figures long and start with either an 8 or a 9. 1 out of 5 for these negatives to Castle Bingo, Bridgend.

Plenty To Praise
My wife and I regularly visit the Castle club in Bridgend. Like all the Castle clubs, it is spacious, well appointed and friendly. Compared to other clubs I've visited, there are more staff to take care of your needs, and there is usually someone available for change or to serve you at the hot food counter, the bar or the coffee shop.
Food is great value at less than £3 for meals. My wife likes their generous salads, and there always seems to be a curry on for me.
Staff are, generally friendly and I've never had a problem with any of them. The management team are regularly around, and are eager to speak with customers about their concerns and issues. They all seem a friendly bunch.
Pricing is good with some sessions being less than £10. Sunday night is the most expensive at about £20, but we are given about £3000 of prize money in the main session, so no complaints there. Regularly the prize money seems much bigger than it should be, especially on quiet nights. Often in other clubs prize money gets cut. It happens occasionally here too, but more often than not, the manager will say that they are honouring the promised prize money, despite low amounts of people in the hall.
Negatives can be the regular interruptions from failing Game-mates, but the managers have assured my wife and I that these will be replaced by more reliable electronic devices before the end of the summer. Apparently they will be called Cubs, but I'm led to believe they are the same as the Bingo Bees in Morriston, their club in Swansea.
All in all, a good experience, and not much different to all the other Castle clubs we've been to in Wales.

Not Going Back
Was a very regular member here attending daily and never missing a Christmas party in 15 years until Xmas 2014. Due to an altercation with one new member of management who handled a complaint I made very wrongly. I will not return to this club until she's gone. A very unprofessional member of the management team who of which I have always previously got on with and respected until this one came here. Her manner has made me never want to return there.
