Club Background And History
Although we don't know much about Club Grand Bingo, apart from its session times, we do know a bit about the venue's past. Club Grand Bingo is located in the Westbourne are of Bournemouth, and is a fairly large hall located in the premises of an old theatre. The theatre originally opened in 1922 with both stage productions and cinema screenings.
Unfortunately the exterior facade no longer exists, which is a bit of a shame, as there was a revolving globe over the entrance which lit up at night, and the tiling was in the form of architectural tiles. There was also a sliding roof for the summer months, and a good old fashioned cinema cafe.
During the 1930s the cinema went under changes of ownership settling with ABC until being taken over by Snape Entertainments in 1953 to operate as a full time cinema. The Grand closed in 1977, and has been operating as a bingo hall ever since.
There is disabled access for patrons, as well as a bar and buffet.
