Club Background And History
Palace Leisure operates the venue both as a cinema, and a bingo hall. With the cinema operating full time, you might be lucky enough to watch a good film, and win some bingo cash on the same day (give them a ring for details of screening and calling times). Originally opened as a cinema in 1914 - the 'Picture Theatre', it has never been taken over by any of the big chains, although after some interior changes in the thirties its name also changed to the Place Cinema, which closed in the mid eighties. A change of ownership meant some extension work, and and a joint cinema and bingo operation, which continues to this day.
