I think I can see why you wouldn't be able to take tips - they are probably afraid that you would try to help the tipper win some kind of way.

Well, imo, tips are made after the evening is over, and a staff member doesn't necessarily know who will tip and who won't. If I win a large scratch ticket at the local tobacco shop, I've always tipped the cashier a little. Only seems right to share.

Boy, do I feel dumb now. I never even thought about that kind of tip when I read the post. I have never thought about a tip before. I have never seen it done where I go. Thanks again for the clarification.

Basically we could have been in real trouble if we'd have been caught taking tips - it was really against the rules of not only the club, but the chain. But we did take them, normally the tippers knew they had to be discreet about it.

Why should a bingo hall be different from a casino, where it is commonly done? At the end of an evening, it seems a nice thing to do.

So, you actually tip people in the casino's? I can the servers and all of that, but I didn't know you were supposed to tip anyone else. Well, the most "gambling" I have done is to play Bingo and maybe the lottery every now and then.

Absolutely. They're service people too. Here's a good article about how and why.

I never realized it either. I tip like the above poster said the servers but never thought about anyone else. Boy, I must have come off as cheap over the years. Not that I have ever won except once that was a good amount.

I think it's just one of those live and learn things. I've not always tipped ...sometimes, and mostly, because there's nothing to tip! LOL.

You are not supposed to take tips from customers not even sweets or anything as basically it is seen as taking a bribe eg customer gives you some money that same night they win on the link or national get my drift But at the same time ppl who do have a big win like some nice old regular in our club won over £100,000 the other month she brought all the staff a box of celebrations each
