First time calling Bingo with the Bingo Caller Of The Year 2007

On Sunday Blake Robson won the 2007 Bingo Caller Of The Year competition. There's been a few pieces on the result, you can see some of them here including a nice video shot at the final. One that made me smile was in the The Shields Gazette and featured the reporter taking the stage and calling his first ever game of Bingo, directed by Blake.

It was fun to see the reporter get some abuse for his calling technique. If you've ever called Bingo, you'd know how sensitive the regular players are to how the game is being called. I can't remember what it was like when I called my first one, but I know for a fact, I was very nervous!

I never even knew that they actually gave awards for Bingo calling. It definitely requires a certain technique.

I didn't realize that they gave out awards either until I found this site. I think that they deserve one though. It is a job I just don't think that I could ever do myself.

I just realized that they had named that person caller of the year before the year was even over! Were they so sure that no-one could beat him?
