Default St Minever Warning

Hi!

Yesterday i joined metrobingo [a part of the st minever group. They also have other sites such as lovebingo, butlins, littlewoods etc] I received £3 no deposit bingo bonus and before registering read that promotions terms and conditions page, which goes as follows:

************************************************** **

Free Bingo!

For a limited time, all new registrants will receive a £1 Welcome Bonus placed in their account upon registration. This is 10 FREE GAMES, no deposit required...and you could WIN BIG!

This bonus will immediately be placed in your account upon successful sign-up.

Terms and Conditions apply.

Promotion Terms and Conditions

Bonus money may only be used to purchase bingo tickets or staked on specific side games which accept bonus money wagers as made available by St Minver from time to time. Bonus money may not be cashed out. Any player choosing to withdraw all or part of a Bonus money deposit they have received from us will forfeit the same. However, all winnings earned by playing with Bonus money are considered cash and may be either withdrawn after wagering requirements are met or used to play games.

A ten times wagering requirement applies to all Bonus money issued by the St. Minver bingo network before a player may withdraw winnings made on that bonus money. In addition players must have deposited at least £10 before any withdrawal can be made.

This means that if you are issued a £1 bonus on registration then deposit £10 and receive a £10 bonus (making a total bonus of £1+£10 = £11), you must purchase TEN TIMES the bonus amount in tickets (in this example £110) before withdrawing winnings.

Each player is allowed only ONE active account. Winnings will only be paid to players having one account. Should duplicate accounts be registered, all winnings will be void. Transfer of funds between player accounts is not permitted.

St Minver actively monitors player accounts for evidence of bonus abuse, defined as inappropriate use of player bonuses to defraud the bingo site. We reserve the right to take whatever action we consider necessary to prevent such abuse. This can include deduction of bonus amounts from accounts, deductions of funds won using such bonus amounts and suspension of player accounts.

All promotional bonuses are void if not claimed within 30 days of being issued.

It may take up to 24 hours for players who have won Chat Bonus money to be verified and for the bonus to be credited.

All bonus offers are subject to change, withdrawal or termination at any time at the sole discretion of St Minver.

By registering to play, you confirm that you understand these rules and agree to be fully bound by them. These terms are incorporated into and form part of our main Bingo Terms and Conditions.
************************************************** *

I used the £3 to buy tickets for one game and shockingly [i'm sure to them anyway] i won a £590 jackpot. I was immediately asked if i had deposited and told them i had not. I was then told that i would not be able to keep the money. When i asked why i was told it was in terms and conditions that any jackpot win could not be kept if you had not deposited. [I did not expect to be able to withdraw, but did expect to be able to then deposit and to be able to then play the money and keep what i won after that.] I was directed to a second terms and conditions page where it does say that if you haven't deposited you cannot keep it.

I immediately this morning emailed customer services where i pointed out the discrepancy. That the terms and conditions above which are printed directly underneath the free money promotion and are supposed to be the terms and conditions for that promotion, does not mention you cannot win a jackpot. Not only that but they boast of being able to 'win big' with the money.

Within minutes, not only has the money been taken out of my balance, but i have been blocked from accessing the bingo rooms at all. Seemingly i am being punished for daring to win with the free money.

On a final note as a bingo player myself at many sites, can i ask other players to be more aware of their actions in chat rooms. On discovering that i had won the jp without depositing, most of the people in the chat room clanned together likey hyenas over a dead body and began whining and moaning and rubbing their hands with glee over the fact that i wouldn't be able to keep it. All these people had at some point started with the free bonus money. When i pointed this out the response was 'yeah, but we didn't win with it'. Perhaps there should be some bold text underneath these promotions that reads at the end 'As long as you don't actually dare to win with it'.

St minever have a lot of linked sites all linking to the same games and the same players etc.

Suzanna

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Stories like that put people like me off online bingo completely. The damage to their reputation will cost them far more than the money they have deprived you of.

I doubt i will play anymore. I'm disabled on a really low income and i was really excited when i won, only for that to happen. The worse thing is being made to feel like i've done something wrong by st minever who have stopped me accessing the site for some reason.

Surely these sites are regulated in some way, isn't there someone you can complain to?

That's not very good treatment, and I'm surprised St Minver have pulled this sort of trickery. Frankly, I think if sites want to entice people with free money, they should treat that bonus as real money and allow players who win on it to withdraw. I've long been a fan of St Minver, but this sort of behaviour is fast diminishing my support for them.

Online can be a scary place at times. We really don't know who's behind that computer unless we check.

Sorry to hear about your experience and I hope it all gets worked out ok.

You should look into complaining to a board of consumer advocates or something in your local area. That or find out who the site belongs to and what Country or whatever and go from there.

Yup, this has happened to me twice before. Now I have a scan of the T&Cs to avoid getting scammed when I play online.
