I certainly don't agree with it, but I do understand somewhat the feeling of the government that they have to protect American consumers. Since there's no legal jurisdiction with foreign countries, the easiest thing to do was ban it.
I was rereading over some of the posts. Correct me if I am wrong but this law only includes the online sites? This doesn't include the bingo you play at your local church or VFW. At least this is the way I understood it.
I may be confused as well, but from what I read, it does affect any game played for money. One would hope organizations like VFWs and churches would be excluded, but I just don't know.
I know that we can still go to the Bingo halls here in the States. And I really don't think it effects them. If you think about it I bet it don't because this would kill the places like Vegas.
No, halls and church games are unaffected. It's the people who transfer money online for gambling that are in trouble, not the actual Bingo sites - but it has a major knock-on effect for them, as you'd imagine.
It would be interesting to know just how much of an economic effect the American ban is having on international sites. I doubt that's info that's easily obtained tho.
