Wedding Hijinks!
We are going to a wedding today and I am looking forward to it! I love going to weddings.
My daughter swears that at her marriage ceremony, I was sobbing and wailing so loud everyone in the chapel heard it! I certainly don't think I did; I cried, of course, but not like that.My daughter swears it's true.
Anyway, as we are deep into wedding season, I thought it might be fun to recollect something funny/amazing/beautiful, or disastrous that we have experienced at a wedding. We'll all have to just imagine a nice glass of champagne...

I have had two weddings because my first husband died. I never longed for a white wedding with a fancy dress and all that stuff. My first wedding was very simple and I had no regrets at all. I wanted my second wedding to be just for us, so there were just three witnesses. We were told that we could choose our own music to be played on CD, so my daughter made a recording of herself playing the flute for us. It was beautiful and it made our wedding very special.

At my wedding when my husband walked up the aisle to the front and the ring bearer started up the aisle the people in the seats did the wave. I guess that it was planned. It looked pretty neat though.

At our own weddings, the "tension" (not sure whatever word to use)are at the peak when the procession starts. Your guests doing the wave probably helped to dispel the "tension" you felt. I think that's a charming story.

That's lovely when children can contribute to a wedding. When I was married (quite simply myself) my oldest little brother carried the guitar, and my youngest little brother was the ring bearer. They were scarcely tall enough to be seen in the pictures of the wedding itself. Now they are hitting their forties and both are taller than me now, of course, but I love to look at my album and see these two tops of little brown heads.

When my friend got married she got so sick of everyone telling her what she should wear. She is not a dress person and she thought that it wasn't about the dress it was about the commitment. She left her family speechless when she and her husband got married in Arsenal kit with a page boy age 2 also in Arsenal kit. Well, they are the best team in the world!

It does get stressful and overwhelming and I say good for her that in the end she wore what she wanted.
You are right when they did the wave it did seem to break the tension. You could hear the laughter that's for sure.

Absolute agreement on Arsenal, there!
Yes, Tater, weddings shouldn't be about tension and whatever breaks it up becomes part of the wedding memories.
My big brother married because his girlfriend was about eight and three quarters months pregnant, and not for any other reason, so I guess you could say it was a wedding fraught with tension. It was a small family ceremony, and our kids were probably five and seven years old. My son (also known as the bottomless pit) had never seen a large sheet wedding cake before, and his eyes nearly came out of his head to see such a magical sight. All the time the ceremony was going on, I could see that he saw nothing but that cake, and I had to keep a hand on his shoulder to keep him from sidling away from me and toward the cake.
The ceremony ended, the groom kissed the bride, and in that little quiet time before anybody says anything, my son piped up, "So can we eat the cake now?"

I really like going to weddings, I like the simple easy types of weddings. The ones were everyone is more relaxed is what I like. I have gone to fancy weddings were my kids weren't even allowed to attend and really didn't care for that at all.

Last Saturday there was a wedding at our church that was supposed to end in time for our folk group's practice, but apparently things had gone a bit haywire, so the wedding was taking place more than an hour late. All the little kids kind of slipped their parents and had congregated by the front doors, that is, except for all the kids that were trying to climb into the baptismal font. One little guy was in the wheelchair that's kept by the front door and was getting ready to take off. Little girls were dancing with each other down the aisle. It's nice for kids to go to weddings and have fun, but someone's got to be watching them. Ah well, the bride's dress was beautiful. It had a long train and she had a boy and girl, each maybe six, who were supposed to carry the train. I don't think they quite understood what they were supposed to be doing because they kept kind of flapping the train up and down, and were perilously close to giving people a very interesting look at the bride.
