Default School Holidays

My son broke up from school today for the long summer holiday. As soon as he got into the house he wanted to know what we were going to do tomorrow. I have a feeling I am going to hear that question quite a lot over the next few weeks. It is not as easy as when he was younger, what do you do to keep a 13 year old occupied?

I have to sons and they seem to be always bored. I couldn't tell you how many times I have heard "I am bored". Are there any pools or water slides, parks things like that you could take him to?

He enjoys swimming so his older sister is going to take him. So far everything else I have suggested has met with disapproval. He has Asperger Syndrome, he is very bright but rather obsessive and a bit odd in the way that he interprets information so he isn't as independent as some other 13 year olds. Last year he built a website during his holidays and he is talking about doing another one so at least he has something to keep him busy.

That is great that he can build a website. That should keep him busy like you said. Maybe you could have some picnics. I know my sons think it is neat just to take a blanket and go to the park and eat lunch.

Yes, that is great that a 13 year old can put together a website! I couldn't do it myself.
Why don't you ask him to put together a website for you? You could coax him by offering him an agreed-upon price when he was done or promise an extra nice outing after he was done?

Mine has been on holiday for weeks already and seems to just be eating and producing dirty laundry!

We're swimming every day, but I'm desperately trying to find some kids local to our new place that he can play with.

That sounds familiar, it is like having locusts!

He has gone to the cinema with his big sister today. I am enjoying the peace because when he gets back he will tell me about the film in so much detail that it becomes exhausting.

That's funny because my sons are at the movies right now watching Kung Fu Panda. I will get the play by play when they get home also.

My son went to see the Batman film The Dark Knight and he absolutely loved it. In fact he loved it so much that he is going to see it again on Wednesday! I don't feel the need to see it as he gave me an account of the film in intricate detail when he got home.

I want to see that movie but haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. I did get a play by play of Kung Fu Panda yesterday though.
