I never knew that about the term "Bubba". Then again I have not heard anyone called this though. I have not yet been called ma'am but know that it is coming.

I wasn't entirely sure where the term Bubba came from, but it always brings to mind for me a very overweight bloke, with rolls of stomach hanging over his waistband. Not a nice image, however you look at it!

At least if they get your name right you know that at least one word of what they say is accurate. That would be quite good going for some of our politicians!

One of our friends was elected to the city council a couple of years ago and he's really into it. He gets in "councilman mode" and he's looking us directly in the eye, using our name in every sentence, shaking our hands and putting his hand on our shoulders...it's pretty funny! He is a good councilman though.

It is so funny in some ways when you know a politician and see them outside their job how they can change personalities at the flick of a switch.

Being able to change personas so quickly has to be a positive boon to a politician. I think they're alot like actors in that they eat up applause and glory in attention.

That's not just politicians. Being able to change personas depending on who you are speaking with is a boon for anyone who is trying to sell anything.

Being able to change personas is not a bad training ground for actors, as well, I think!

Remembering names is something I'm pretty good at, but at the moment we have a guest who I have a real mental block with. Every time I go to say it there is this pause whilst my brain flounders around trying to find it1 It's so embarassing.

I have a horrible time with names; I'll apologize right off and ask them to be patient with me while I process their name into memory.
