How many of you think that Bingo is for old people and women? I don't think of it like that. I see many young and male Bingo players enjoying a good game. So I don't know why it has been branded like a women and older people thing.

My local Bingo hall is certainly top heavy with older ladies, but I'm not sure whether that is because the game itself appeals more to that demographic or because the advertsising to that sector of the market has put off other players.

There are more women than men, but there are quite a few older men who play. I think it is partly because there are more male type activities for men to choose from eg my husband has gone to a railway open day today - my idea of hell! Also bingo is acceptable for women to go to alone, it feels fairly safe, it doesn't require a significant commitment and it doesn't finish too late.

More often I see younger folk coming into the bingo, but it is mostly the older ladies in the majority.
Have we done a thread about how to make bingo more palatable for younger players? If we haven't, we surely should!

I am seeing more men but in all honesty I feel that men tend to want to do things where they are more active and bingo just is not active enough for them. At least this is in my husbands case.

That's true with my hubby. If there's nothing interesting on, if it doesn't have to do with music or history he's not very interested.

It would take wild horses to drag my hubby to Bingo. but he admits that he's never played so he honestly doesn't know what he is missing.

Do you think one of the objections that men have about bingo is that it's not "real gambling"? Like Tater said, guys like to DO something, and bingo may seem too passive to them; they'd rather play cards.

My husband loves bingo more than I do, he says it brings back happy memories. My mum on the other had is horrified that I would do something as terrible as going to bingo and she still trys to persuade me not to go.

I have gotten my husband to try Bingo but he only goes every once in a great while. It is just not something he loves doing.
