I think bounty hunters go after folk who have "jumped bail", meaning that someone, usually a bail-bondsman put up the money to get them out of jail. So the bail-bondsman wants them back, to put them back in jail and hopefully get their money back. They also go after folk that have a bounty on their head. When the bounty hunters bring the baddie back they can claim the reward money.

That is exactly what a bounty hunter does. I have always thought this would be an interesting job to do. Really have no idea why though.

I imagine the majority of bail jumpers come fairly quietly once caught, but the odd one would probably shoot at you.
I'm not sure I'm up for that level of excitement!

Thanks for the information about bounty hunters, it helped me to answer my son's questions. He then asked if everyone in USA was like Dog. I said that I didn't think so, he must have been imagining a country filled with men dressed in black and women with impossibly large breasts. I told him to think of other shows from USA and think of the people in them. He mentioned American Chopper - more large than life characters, he then thought of Malcolm in the Middle a kid's show about a dysfunctional family. It set me thinking, if our knowledge of another country is influenced by the television, what do people in USA think we are like in UK?

I imagine they'd think we spend all our time in cozy local pubs, drinking tea or running market stalls like in EastEnders.

As a young teen we made a trip to Michigan for a family reunion, all the kids my age had all kinds of excited questions. He seemed to think that we lived in one huge Liverpool (the Beatles had done their 1st US Tour the year before). The Royals took up the rest of the room, wearing diamonds and tiaras at tea.

Mickie, good on you for landing that blogging job!!

Thanks Molly I'm really loving writing it. I love Sharon Osbourne so it really is an honour to write a blog all about her.

I can imagine that would be alot of fun, blogging on someone you admire; it would be easy doing research, as you enjoy learning about them anyway. Does it give you a feeling of responsibility, though, that you are blogging regarding someone you care about? It sounds a really fulfilling task.

I've met lots of Americans who have said, on discovering that I'm from the UK, 'Oh, do you know so and so ...?'
I know it's a small country compared to the US, but really!
