He was an American comedian. He started in the early sixties, I believe, and was funny enough. His comedy got edgier, sexually, politically, drug-wise, and he started to worry the folk who booked him on "family variety shows". Come the end of the sixties and early seventies, he grew his hair long. His break-out album "George Carlin:Class Clown", and that was the edgiest comedy available. He did a skit called "The Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television", which I wouldn't write here without permission; quite rude indeed.
He began to do alot of observational humour, which was probably the best sort of comedy he did. He got quite cynical in his old age, a bit angrier than in his greener years. He recently put out a new comedy show on HBO cable, and it sounded to me that he was seeing things in a brighter light. He was still at it when he died of heart failure.
I don't know alot about his personal life, but I believe he lost his wife a few years ago. Anybody with a better knowlege of George, feel free to fill in the spots I've left out.
