Another Americanism close to it is to "shine on", which means the same but might be a less vehement way to put it.
To shine on someone means to ignore, but to blow someone off has more of a "finger" to it.
Thanks Molly, I wonder if they make a dictionary to explain what all these terms mean. I like to watch Judge Judy (are those people real) but she has some odd phrases sometimes. She tells people to 'suck it up' which I guess means to put up with it, but I don't know what she means when she talks about 'flipping him/her off'. I guess we must have terms in UK that would not have an obvious meaning to people in U.S. despite sharing a language.
