My husband will talk to anyone about absolutely anything, it can be really embarrassing especially when traveling on public transport. It make me want to hide sometimes, but other people seem to react well to him. One day we were on a train and he began a conversation with a chap he had never met before by complementing him on his choice of socks! They spent the next hour discussing socks, footwear and underwear. I hid behind my magazine!

I tell my hubby that people start talking to him because he has such a friendly, trusting-looking face. He's very polite about talking to anyone who starts up a chat, and I hide behind a magazine as well! After a courteous amount of time I'll start tapping his foot with mine, clear my throat, etc., but it doesn't work all the time!

My husband is obsessed with trains, he doesn't drive and he is not always aware of the consequences of his actions when in the passenger seat. Once we were travelling along the M5 motorway at the point where the railway line runs close to the road. My husband suddenly pointed and shouted "Lool, look" I thought he could see a hazard that I hadn't spotted and I came close to doing an emergency stop. When I realised that he had just seen a train going past I was furious. I said he would have to travel in the back if he couldn't be sensible.

I'm beginning to wonder if our husbands aren't distantly related! My hubby isn't into trains, but there is something that will make him stop every time. Whenever he sees a poor soul sitting by a stop sign holding a placard that says "Stranded, need gas money" or "Veteran" or whatever, he always gives them some money. He's turned around right in the middle of the street because he's seen someone who looks really bad off. At least we have forged a bargain that if there is someone standing right next to the grocery, we'll go in and buy our weekly lot and then he can give them something. When we lived in another city, my hubby used to take a walk after his lunch, and he would usually happen on an old black gentleman in a wheelchair asking for donations, and he gave every time he saw him and they would have a little chat. I asked him why he did it and my hubby says, "He could be an old bluesman. He looks like a bluesman." Anyway, to make a long story longer, I've learned not to protest or hubby will take out the folding money. Early on, when I asked him why he has this little penchant, he said, "Because that could be me. They don't have a wife that loves them or a nice life." Well, alright, I gave up!

Molly, I wish a few more people were like your husband, the world would be a better place. Too many of us are too quick to judge others and we don't take time to appreciate the good things we have.

I got so used to travelling with a small person that I shouted 'Look! A cow!' really loudly on a crowded commuter train once before I remembered that small person was at home. Ooops!

What does he chat to them about Molly? And do they listen?

I spend allot of time 'Gerrof yer b'gr' and 'stockpot' at my chickens, but they completely ignore me!

Green, you have such a turn of phrase, LMAO! I think I'll start yelling "stockpot" at all my hubby's birdie friends!
Last Christmas I found a stuffed (toy, not dead) crow that can caw if you squeeze him, and got it for hubby. For awhile, feeding the crows, we have been trying to figure out how many caws mean things like "come and eat", or "stay away". We go to a nearby jetty where the crows like to hang out, and my hubby takes his stuffed crow (whose name is Moosejaw, after a dream he had about a crow), and he'll try to call the crows to come eat. Sometimes it works, and he gets so excited!

Have you ever overheard people telling their kids to avoid the loony couple with the stuffed bird? Do you ever wonder why people cross over to the other side of the road when they see you coming?

LMAO trying to imagine you two on that jetty!!!!
