Default TV remote control

This innocent looking little device causes some very odd behaviour in our house. The male members of the family seem to be very possessive about it and if it ever gets misplaced they will pull the house apart looking for it rather than walk across the room to turn the TV over. Is this normal?

Yes!

I found myself doing this last night when I could have been quicker walking to the TV. In fact, I walked and looked behind the TV in case it was there.

I could have changed the volume manually, but something subsconsciously makes you seek out the remote control.

Scientists cant explain it.

I know what you mean about the remote control. We are forever losing ours in the house. It's quite funny really because we tend to lose it several times a day and we have to get up and move everything before we find it, usually it has fallen down the side of the couch. We can get up and change the channel but, it is difficult because the buttons are right on top of the television and difficult to reach because of the cabinet that the television is in.

Somehow the remote ends up on the floor next to hubby's side of the couch, not sure how this always happens.

My sons were constantly losing the remote and they would act like the tv was broke because they didn't have it. I ended up buying this huge remote at Walmart as a joke and they are still using it. We don't seem to lose this big one.

I don't know why we do this. I too lose the remote, but I will at least turn the tv on and find a decent station. During my TV viewing, I am constantly still trying to find the remote, because it is too much to get up and change the channel.

I like the remote because I hate commercials so it is just so much easier to press a button to change the channel every time a commercial comes on. You do get used to that remote. I will admit that.

I hate adverts as well and it makes me feel *powerful* in some bizarre way to be able to get rid of them by pressing a button.

Ah controllers they are the wonders of life allowing us to have a little luxury and comfort whilst all the time becoming more and more lazy couch potatoe's, lol! Anyone seen that excellent film Click? It was so, so funny.

I think the problem is compounded because we have a remote control for every gadget now. I remember when it was just the one for the telly, but now there's one for the TV, one for the DVD, one for the stereo etc etc
