Amusement Parks
So I was wondering if anyone has any plans to go to any amusement parks this summer? I love to ride rollercoasters and cannot wait to get on the this year. I live not to far from Cedar Point so that is where we will be going and they have some great ones.

My hubby loves the wild roller coaster rides and suchlike, but I'm too much of a weenie to go on them with him. I don't much like watching him on the coasters, and the ones that have the loop-de-loop...forget it.

We are very lucky because we have a lovely amusement park in a nearby town. It is called Wicksteed Park and it is an ideal family day out. It is not as big as Drayton Manor or Alton Towers but in a way I prefer it because there is still space to have a game of cricket or a picnic. We go there several times through the summer and it doesn't break the bank. We will go to Drayton Manor at some point because they now have a Thomas The Tank Engine Land and my husband loves trains - maybe he will grow up one day!

the kids like amusement parks, but I can think of a million more fun ways to spend a day out myself. I'd rather go to the zoo or a play park than an amusement park. I just hate the queues, and the crowds.

In my case I think it must be old age because I really don't enjoy those sort of outings and much as I used to. I like the zoo, but when I too my son to Twycross Zoo last summer we came across two giant tortoises 'doing what cones naturally' they were very loud and it took ages. My son was entranced and he talked about nothing else for days afterwards, it made me wish I had taken him to an amusement park instead!

Once again I am agreeing with you on the amusement park question. I'd much rather go on a picnic or something else close to nature. My kids seem to learn at least one thing doing that, the name of a bird or that bunnies come in more than one colour. That's precious, and the amusement parks can wait a few more years.

My son and his family live in California, and my daughter-in-law is a real Disney aficianado. They started taking their kids to Disneyland when they were only a few months old, and if you've been there you know that another stroller is not what is needed. My son takes my granddaughter there several times a year and buys her a bunch of souvenirs. I'm sure my granddaughter will have alot of happy memories about it and that's what counts.

I like the zoo but the one we have here in our area is all in the sun. I mean there is really no shade trees or anything like that to speak of.

Oh, man. That's a migraine waiting to happen. Before we married, my hubby took me to a new amusement park that had not one bit of shade. By the time we got home I had a real rager of a migraine.

Yep, with all the heat beating down on that black pavement you are miserable by the time you leave.
