I spoke to my daughter earlier today, and she told me that she took her daughter and son (who is about 2 1/2)to the zoo. She told me that she got brave and didn't take the stroller along. She says her son walked nearly all the way for a couple of hours! She sounded almost giddy that she didn't have to fight with the stroller at all.

It is nice when you don't have to use a stroller anymore. Then again sometimes it is nice to have a wagon or something in case they get tired or for anything you might buy.

I think anywhere crowded is best avoided when it's hot. It seems to being out the worst in people as well as headaches.

Actually I will say that the enclosures the animals are in have trees for shade and ponds and such for them to cool off in. At least our zoo is that way.

Amusement park provides attraction to adults, teenager and small children. But one should be very careful while a trip to the park.I have heard that a 14-year old girl whose feet were severed by an amusement park ride last summer says that accident has changed her life.

...and not a water fountain in sight. The result is you buy more cokes etc to try and hydrate yourself, or a very expensive bottle of water. I think it would be a gesture of good will if amusement parks put a water fountain here and there.

I agree with you about the water fountains. Not only that but some places are not allowing you to bring your own food in now. When I was young we used to be able to bring in a cooler with our lunch. Just another way to get you to spend more money.

We have season passes to our amusement park. It is about 40 minutes away from us, but also has a water park included. We have gone about once a week so far.

Amusement parks seem to be such an expensive day out now that they contain all these high tech rides and everything. For a family of four to spead a day there you just about need a second mortgage.

I prefer to go to the smaller, less well known ones where not only is it cheaper to get in but you don't have the crows either so have a better day out.

I agree the expense is prohibitive, especially when you consider what that sum could be spent on instead. Visits to big theme parks are a rare 'treat' in our family, because they do not represent good value.
