LOL ...come on now, tell us about the groupies ....there have to be good stories.
Now that is the first time I have heard a caller refer to his job like being a rockstar. That's good. Sounds like in the end you really enjoy it and that is great.
Awww ...that's rather nice, Dio. Must mean you were memorable in a good way for them!
If you need to quite customers down, say your first number, a hall full of 400 people will fall instantly quite.
I've seen callers who think they are comedians and they tell jokes for the sake of it - I dont recommend tryig to b a comedian, your customers are paying your wages at your club for bingo. If they wanted jokes they would have gone to a comedy club.
Thats not to say you cant have a laugh when your calling, im talking about when things go wrong with the equipment. As soon as something happens like the R.N.G wont generate the next number the customers will all look at you like as if its your fault.
As an example when I was a caller the numbers and info board was right behind me on stage and sometimes it was very slow at displaying the different prize money for the last page or even worst (because the prize money would be lower) after a link. So as I announced the 1 and 2 lines as correct the full house would still show £5000 so i would say "and thats NOT the full house winnings before you get any big ideas!" and then when it did change i would say "well thats what happens when you get your stuff from M.F.I!"
Perhaps its not that funny, but at least it was better than taking yourself or the situation too seriously.
In this life, there's always room for comedy, or at least an attempt at comedy, otherwise you find that it is only 'money makes the world go round' - so fair play to anyone who gives it a go![]()
It's better to have bingoed and lost than to never have bingoed at all
