Top Calling Tips For Beginners

That's funny about the Scottish accent! I'm an American but have lived in Scotland a bit ...especially in the far north. I can understand a broad Sutherland accent much better than down near angus where I most recently lived.

If they're anything like Aberdonians, I suspect that they refer to your nationality and then question whether or not your parents were married!

I tend to get called Jock or Haggis, and one player always greets me with 'Och aye the noo!' I just tend to smile.

Once many years ago I had a stroppy group going on about Scots coming down and stealing all the jobs (we had two other Scots at that club). Only trouble with that was I moved here aged 15, so every penny of tax I've paid has been in England.

Oh, and I'm a quarter English anyway!

Hey 74simon, I have a secret card up my sleeve for when I get called a fatherless, South of the border womans part.
I was actually born in Perth, Scotland...that soon shuts them up, for a while at least.

Ach ...Perthshire is incredibly beautiful ...even though I call Angus home part of the time. Just a stone's throw anyway.

I have just started calling in our club i am going for my green card next year i think you have to be very strong willed to be a caller as basically you are the most hated/loved member of staff! the amount of times i have seen this caller is gay or shit written on the back of ppls books always make me laugh

I feel for anyone who calls only because you are the first one everyone seems to get angry with. That and don't dare make a mistake or drop a ball you would think the world had ended when that happens.
