Well, I'm not expert, but watching Gardeners World tonight, they we planting their Alium bulbs now. I suppose it depends on when you want them and what they are - in my experience bulbs tend to know when it's right for them to flourish.

This all depends on the bulb - and a bit of a problem is that because there has been a bit of climate change lately many books won't have taken this into account, I'd suggest looking at the RHS website or similar where their info is up to date. (Spring has apparently moved 11 days forward over the past decade or so, and the very nature of winter is changing - so many things to consider - let the experts figure it out)

Hi, I don't want to be contrary, but I agree with Dio, I don't think even the experts can predict what's happening with bulbs and the climate, the best thing to do might be to select your colours, and plant them anyway, that way your garden might be a bit more 'surprising' - well ordered gardens are nice, but it's good to have a bit of spontaneity - that's what nature is all about!
It's better to have bingoed and lost than to never have bingoed at all
