Hey bond! Are you doing research for the hall? Tell them we all sort of understand the ban, but those of us who smoke don't like it LOL.

Welcome!

no i am an actual employee just doing it as a job.

i am actually in between on the smoking ban. i support it because as a non smoker, i will not have to empty ashtrays at the end of each session, but i am against it as well because i can see a lot of bingo workers losing their jobs due to clubs shutting down, cutting hours etc...

Hi bond, welcome to the site. There are a couple of bingo workers here - they've mentioned their clubs - I can't see how you'd get into trouble for it.

Has your club done anything to start attracting new members ahead of the ban? Or is it like many of the big chains who've given up the fight already? I'm firmly of the opinion that operators should be using this ban as an opportunity rather than rolling over and claiming victimization.

But of course, I'm concerned for people's jobs as well. From the outside, it looks like little has been done or thought out though.

The thing is that if there are so many people now against smoking, then maybe the halls and clubs will get people to come in that never did before? Some of the bars around here say they see people now they never saw before.

you are spot on there. As nearly everyone knows, 9 mecca clubs are closing soon with the loss of 230 jobs. this will just be the start.

i remember reading somewhere on t'internet (copyright Peter Kay) that as many as 600 bingo halls in the country might be forced to close due to the smoking ban.

if this is true, it is surely a worrying time for the bingo industry........

Wait - I don't understand. Why would they have to close because of a smoking ban? I think people are getting carried away with this smoking crap. I don't smoke anymore, but I don't put down people who do. If a business thrives because of it, then they need to leave it alone.
