Default Vegemite

This doesn't have anything to do with Bingo, but I enjoyed it so much that I thought it was worth posting regardless!

I have never tried this product. It is strange that is is made by Kraft but so hard to find in the states. I have yet to see it anywhere.

I tried Vegemite one time. A friend from Australia mailed me a tube. Not my cup of tea. I personally thought it was the nastiest stuff ever no matter what you put it on. Ick!

LoL, I can't comment on Vegemite, but I guess it's similar to Marmite. And the British can't seem to live without the stuff! Where-ever in the world you have British ex-pats, you'll find someone exceeding their baggage allowance by squeezing in an extra jar

You either love it or hate it... Just like Marmite.

Sorry, never heard of Marmite personally. What's in it? How do you eat it?

If that was a commercial for Marmite, I am sure it was an unsuccessful one. If Vegimate is anything like it then I will pass on it.

I had never heard of Marmite either. I guess from what you all say that it is more of an acquired taste. I would like to try either one some time though just to see what it tastes like.

Marmite is a yeast extract which you spread on bread. It is very strongly flavoured, so you do it sparingly. People tend to either love it or hate it.

Have you heard of Bovril? Bovril is very similar, only meat based.

It made me laugh how you said spread it sparingly my husband loves marmites and spreads it on really thickly. I personally think he is mad because I hate that amount of marmite. I can only eat marmite in small doses and when I really fancy it if not I don't enjoy the taste. My 2 1/2 daughter loves marmite like her dad and loves marmite sandwiches.
