There are more women than men, but there are quite a few older men who play. I think it is partly because there are more male type activities for men to choose from eg my husband has gone to a railway open day today - my idea of hell! Also bingo is acceptable for women to go to alone, it feels fairly safe, it doesn't require a significant commitment and it doesn't finish too late.
