I was a a toy superstore this evening and I saw a couple with a girl aged about 5. They watched as she took all the large soft toys off the shelves and threw them on to the floor. They didn't say a word to her, they just wanderer off and she followed dragging a large soft to horse along behind her. She stopped to tear another toy out of it's packet, then she wandered on still dragging the horse. Her parents didn't even notice, they were busy looking at something else. I lost track of them until they got to the checkout when I spotted them again. By this time the horse was dirty and she had chewed it's ear. The father took it away from her, plonked it on the counter and said that they didn't want it. I may not be a perfect parent, but my children knew how to behave when out. That child had obviously been allowed to do whatever she liked!
