Dragonfish Closed All My Accounts

Saturday, Jan. 28th 2017 7:27 AM

Close Accounts

On 26th January at 8am in the morning I logged into my Bumble Bingo account to check my balance. I had £30 cash. I then went about my day preparing news about bingo for various sources before checking my emails at about 3pm. It was then I noticed a number of emails from various Dragonfish sites with the subject title Account Deactivation Notice.

As a bingo writer, I’ve reported on a number of players who have had their accounts closed by Cassava and predominantly this has always been because of what has been considered bonus abuse. This does not appear to be the case in this situation. My account usage for Dragonfish brands usually consists of registration, a £10 deposit to check the bonuses available for reviews and our bonus pages, and that’s it.

ASA Ruling on Daub Alderney Ltd

Thursday, Jul. 14th 2016 6:34 AM

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) are being kept busy by the world of online bingo recently. It was less than a week ago that we published details of a complaint that was upheld against Butlers Bingo, and this week Daub Alderney Ltd which is the company behind Lucky Pants Bingo have come under the spotlight after sending out a text advertising “100 FREE spins + 350% bonus”.

This promotion text message was received by the complainant on the 26th February this year, but after entering the required code, they failed to receive any free spins and only picked up a 200% bonus. They then contacted the ASA and made a complaint against Lucky Pants Bingo challenging whether the advert was misleading as it did not contain any terms and conditions.

ASA Ruling on Butlers Bingo

Monday, Jul. 11th 2016 7:46 AM

Broadway Gaming Ltd, the company that owns and operates Butlers Bingo have this week had their wrists slapped by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have they were reported for misleading information on their mobile home page. The complaint was brought after their page featured a promotion on the 15th April offering “Deposit £10. Play £35”.

The complainant contacted the ASA after challenging whether the offer was misleading or not, as it failed to mention that there were wagering requirements attached to the offer before players could withdraw any winnings. Broadway Gaming Ltd apologised and started that the missing wagering requirements were an oversight, and the page was updated to include the relevant information.

Mecca Bingo Go Pet Friendly

Thursday, Dec. 17th 2015 7:10 AM

Poor old Mecca Bingo, they’re having a bit of a time of it recently. Firstly they have to forfeit just under a million pounds in profit following a ruling in a court case and then, as if that wasn’t enough, they have to make changes to their Christmas commercial. This won’t have cost a million, but it wouldn’t have been cheap!

We’ll skim over the first part of the story, it’s interesting if you’re in the industry, but as players, we’re more interested in the Christmas commercial story. You may have seen the advert on television recently and might not even have noticed the massive faux pas by Mecca Bingo (we certainly didn’t until we took to Twitter) so let us shed some light on things….

First Withdrawals Affected By New T&C’s At 15 Network Brands

Thursday, Nov. 12th 2015 7:48 AM

As our readers are aware, we have our very own pay to play brand called Tidy Bingo. It’s a site that we have poured ourselves into since its launch in August 2013. We’ve always been proud of the site, and our ethos of being about the player is more than apparent when you visit. However, whilst our stance hasn’t changed, it seems the 15 Network as a whole has moved the proverbial goal posts.

Without notice to their partners, or players, the 15 Network recently made changes to the Terms and Conditions surrounding the first withdrawals at ALL brands on the network, not just Tidy Bingo. The change that was implemented is one that we are not at all happy with and are currently negotiating with the powers that be about.

Charity Bingo
Needs An Update

Regular readers here at Playing Bingo will know that for some time now we have had an issue with Charity Bingo and their inability to keep their players informed of the donations being made to charity. The whole ethos of the site, its unique selling point is that they donate £1 to charity for every £20 you deposit, but regular updates to the charity of the month and the donations made are a rarity.

A previous article like this resulted in an update to the charity pages [read the article here] following the brand providing no update since March 2015! We are now in October and currently the dedicated page shows donations up until June 2015 only.

More Changes For Socially Responsible Gambling

Wednesday, Aug. 26th 2015 7:36 AM

Online and mobile gaming has seen a boom in recent years and these days it can seem like every other advert is a bingo or casino ad. With a change in trends and more advertising, the IGRG, the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling has announced a range of improvements this week designed to promote socially responsible advertising.

The Industry Code was first implemented in 2007 but these revisions are the biggest since then, and with mobile gambling now seeing huge growth the changes are considered to be much needed and will come into play within the next six months.

Charity Bingo Take Note And Update Pages

Thursday, Jul. 2nd 2015 7:27 AM

Often when we address certain issues around the world of online bingo it can appear that our concerns fall on deaf ears. However, on some occasions these issues are serious enough that the ‘offender’ sits up, takes note and acts quickly to rectify the situation. This is the case with Charity Bingo who have now made all of the missing donations for March, April, May and June.

We’re still not convinced that all is at is should be and there is still the small matter of charitable donations not proven from October 2012 through until December 2013, but at least Charity Bingo have taken aboard the concerns raised and addressed them. It is worth noting though that all of the donations were only made on 30th June 2015, the day our article went live.
