William Hill Hit With £6.2 Million Fine

Saturday, Feb. 24th 2018 7:56 AM

Over the last few months we have seen a number of online gambling operators hit with some pretty hefty fines from the Gambling Commission. The largest to date was £7.8 million against 888 but on Tuesday 20th February, the Commission published details of a £6.2 million fine levied against William Hill.

The majority of the fines that have been dished out by the Gambling Commission have been around failures in social responsibility and anti-money laundering. In the case of William Hill, the Commission described those failings as ‘systematic’ and upon reading the examples that are given in the article published on the official website here, you can’t help but wonder how the systems failed so badly.

Tuesday, Feb. 20th 2018 7:23 AM

Coffee Break Bingo

15 Network Launch
Coffee Break Bingo

There are some new bingo sites that simply launch with no fanfare and actually, don’t even hit our radar until months after they have opened. Coffee Break Bingo is one such brand! According to various sources, this site opened in November 2017 but here we are in February and we only stumbled on the fact that it was open when looking into the reappearance of the Newbie Room on the 15 Network!

Coffee Break Bingo looks like many of the other sites available on the 15 Network but whilst others have followed the recent request to remove certain titles for landing pages, this new site still shows Fluffy Favourites and Sugar Train under their Hot Slots section.

More Changes At Cozy Games Sites

Cozy Games

Cozy Games
Withdrawal Rules

There was a recent new addition to the Live Bingo Network from 8 Ball Games called Spin And Bingo, a site that is powered by the Cozy Games software. Whilst preparing the bonus page for this new bingo site, we were double checking the terms and conditions and noticed that there have been even more changes in the rules around withdrawals!

Since Electracade have taken over the Cozy Games brands, the changes have been for the better and the most recent amendment is too. There have been improvements to the frequency that withdrawals are processed and an increase in the cap on how much you can withdraw daily, weekly and monthly from the sites.

Branding Being Lost By Bingo Sites

Saturday, Jan. 13th 2018 7:26 AM

Online Bingo Branding

Branding Being Lost
In Compliance

It wasn’t that long ago that we covered some of the changes that were being made at various bingo sites in an effort to be compliant [read more here]. The UK Gambling Commission had sent a letter to all operators requesting that they remove ads that were ‘likely to appeal particularly to people aged 17 or younger (‘under 18’)’ and, ‘generally available to view (‘freely accessible’).’

Operators complied and we have seen some of the personalities from various bingo sites lost but now we’re seeing Dragonfish sites taking it one step further, and in many cases, stripping the sites bare of any individuality! Site owners have invested substantially in building the branding, only to be told that much of it has to now be removed.

Mecca Bingo Launch The #Meccarena

Tuesday, Jan. 9th 2018 7:56 AM

When it comes to adverts for online bingo, we have seen quite a few over the years. Some have really grabbed our attention, and others, bored us to tears. It would be fair to say that the ones that have gotten a thumbs up from us are those that have a great soundtrack. The old school Foxy adverts are classic examples using iconic tunes like We Are Family and You’re The One That I Want. Mecca Bingo are now on the list with their latest offering and if you have seen the advert already, you will know why!

The Mecca Bingo advert uses a parody of the 1983 song by Los Del Rio, Macarena, and it was this that had our attention the moment it could be heard playing went we went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea in the commercial break!

Free Play Bonuses All But Finished

Saturday, Jan. 6th 2018 7:22 AM

No Free Play Bonus

Free Play
Bonuses Lost

We’ve been in the online bingo business for quite a number of years now and in that time have seen many changes to the bonus structure of welcome packages at various sites. We remember when the first free play bonus was introduced and how once one site had offered a no deposit required bonus, many others followed suit.

This type of bonus became an expectation by players for a while and then slowly, we saw the number of sites offering this sort of bonus reduce. However, there has always been a substantial number of brands offering a no deposit required bonus, that was until the introduction of the new tax on free play bonuses introduced in August 2017.

Four Dragonfish Brands Close

Tuesday, Dec. 26th 2017 7:57 AM

Dragonfish Site Closures

Dragonfish
Sites Closures

When it comes to site closures, it’s quite a rarity that a Dragonfish network brand goes out of business. On a recent check of the sites listed under 888 hat, we were shocked to find that no less than four had been removed from the list! Even more shocking were that some of these brands were quite established and have been around since October 2004.

So what are the reasons behind the sites closing? To be honest we don’t have a clue but we don’t think we’d be wrong in suggesting that it was something to do with the new tax implemented in August this year, or even the cost of updating the sites to the new software that Dragonfish are now using. The likelihood is that there were many contributory factors.
