Wednesday, January 28, 2009Following on from my moan about the pointless Which Bingo Awards earlier this month, it's refreshing to see another large online Bingo portal come up with something a bit closer to the kind of awards I'd like to see for the industry. The BingoPort.co,uk Player's Choice Awards is open to the site's large membership to vote on winners. Unlike the Which Bingo awards which is a free for all, the team at BingoPort created the shortlist for their players to vote on, based on a more rounded and overarching view of what's been happening in the online Bingo world.
You can see the short list of sites to vote on here, and I have to say that for my money, they are a lot closer to what my personal list of sites would have been than the final results of the Which Bingo Awards. What's more, the winners of the votes will be announced on Friday night at an awards ceremony as a part of the 2009 CAP Euro event, an affiliate focused summit for people in the online Bingo and wider gaming industry. As it happens, I'll be attending the awards on Friday night, so I'll try to get some photos and report back on the event when I've done. Should be a fun night, I'm looking forward to it.

Dear Mr Playing Bingo
Shouldn't your 'news story' be written the way you meant it..... ie "I agree with the list that BingoPorts have put together, and they invited me thier ceremony so I'm going to big them up." Oh and its with all the people that are our paymasters (affiliates) so I cant say anything nasty about them or the sites. Plus how can an awards pre-picked short list that they have picked be more democratic or more 'represenattive' than an open vote? I don't get it? Oh and how about some consistency - you slag off small sites like Bingo Liner and others for being small and u not liking them yet similar small sites appear on that list. Eh?
Dear anon, eh indeed? I didn't say I agreed with Bingo Port's list, I said it was closer to what I considered to be a fairer reflection of the actual Bingo market and what I consider to be the best the online bingo has to offer.
If you actually followed the blog for any length of time, you would see that I have considered BingoPort an excellent site since its very first days. This is not because they pay me, its because they offer something of value to online bingo players, so it's got nothing to do with the fact I got an invite at all, it's to do with the fact I know the people behind the site have a good idea about what qualifies as a good bingo experience for online bingo players.
You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about something, but that's your opinion and your entitled to it. This is my site and I'm entitled to my opinion, and I will share it 100%. You want to question it, feel free to set up your own site and put your own points across.
