Welcome To The White List - Antigua and Barbuda

If you work in online Bingo and run adverts for Bingo sites like I do here, then you'll be aware of the DCMS and UK Gambling Commission's white list of approved regions for the operation of online gaming. Technically it's against regulations to be displaying adverts for sites licensed in areas that aren't on the white list (which hasn't stopped a number of UK based Bingo portals doing so - you know who you are.)

So far, respectable regions include anywhere in the EU, Alderney, The Isle Of Man and Tasmania. Just this last week, the Caribbean island of Antigua and Barbuda have been approved and added to the list. Effective from the 21st of November 2008, the Minister for Sport and Culture stated that he was "content that Antigua and Barbuda has the legal authority to regulate gambling," and that "its current system of regulation and licensing provides a robust and adequately resourced framework to uphold our shared objectives: to prevent gambling from becoming a source of crime; to keep gambling fair and open; and to protect children and vulnerable people."

This will effect a couple of online bingo sites that are currently licensed in these regions. This notably includes Bingo Mania - a site that's been around for the best part of a decade and won a number of plaudits from the industry. I'm just going through the site's White List page to update the details, there's been a lot of changes on it since the last time I looked.
