Camelot's Bingo Advert Banned

There'll be smiles from the Bingo Association on this one. The Advertising Standards Authority has agreed with them that Camelot's add which depicted a closed Bingo hall was indeed denigrating the Bingo industry. After some careful consideration, the ASA has stated the ad must not be shown again. You can read the ASA's full adjudication here, but this is the most telling snippet, "...those images implied that bingo clubs in general were closing down and the industry was dying. We concluded that the ad was misleading and denigrated the bingo industry. The ad breached CAP (Broadcast) TV Advertising Standards Code rules 5.1 (Misleading advertising), 5.4.3 (Denigration) and 5.4.6 (Comparative advertising)."
