NetPlayTV Announce Celebrity TV Bingo

At the rate it's going in TV land, there will soon be as many Bingo TV shows as there are online Bingo sites. If ever you needed proof that Bingo is blossoming in Britain everywhere except at your local hall, then the recent rash of Bingo TV shows is just that proof. The latest addition to the Bingo airwaves is a new satellite based show from the gaming group NetPlayTV - recently featured here for their purchase of Bingos.com online Bingo.

Their programme is called Celebrity TV Bingo, and is expected on air in the Summer. Alongside the main presenter Greg Scott the show will feature hackneyed celebrity guests such as Jim Bowen and Cannon and Ball, proving that once again the game has an image problem. The launch of this new show is tied in with the acquisition of Bingos.com and will tie in with the brand.

I suppose it's not surprising that such dated and old stars are featuring on the show, because let's face it, Bingos.com have a good history of shooting themselves in the foot with the celebrity endorsements. Kerry Katona anyone? Of course, because it's Bingo, it's automatically end-of-the-pier, lowest common denominator territory. It would be interesting to see someone try to break those sort of easy associations that plague the game, but it would seem Celebrity TV Bingo will not be the one.

We had the Quiz Show con and it now looks like we are getting the replacement Bingo con. It even has the same presenter in Greg Scott who I remember DEFENDED the quiz shows, including the one he presented, Quizmania. Its time all these money making schemes that rake in hard working peoples cash in the hope of winning are banned.
