White Listed & Non White Listed Online Bingo Sites & Networks For The Gambling Act 2005 Advertising Ban

UK based websites like Playing Bingo will have to adhere to some new regulations for the gaming sites they advertise with the implementation of the Gambling Act 2005 on the 1st of September 2007. This includes a ban on advertising gaming and Bingo sites licensed in regions outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and other white listed regions that have passed the stringent tests needed to be accepted.

Currently, there are only two other regions that are white-listed as having approved licensing - they are the Isle of Man and Alderney. This means that from the 1st of September 2007, 100s of gaming sites licensed in areas outside the white list will no longer be able to advertise on UK based web sites.

And what webmasters need to know is, this ban extends to any editorial sites about the game or any site that runs adverts for online Bingo whatever the content of the site. I do run a number of Bingo adverts and affiliate links across the site to help fund running costs and content. As such, I'm classed as a publisher and have to be within the regulations. Other UK based Bingo sites doing the same will also need to also check their advertisers to ensure they stay within advertising laws and regulations. Otherwise, the penalties could include fines and jail sentences.

So far I'm yet to see a good list of the acceptable online Bingo sites that can be advertised, so I've compiled a list to help Bingo site owners identify which advertisers they may need to drop from the online content. The list is not exhaustive, and represents what I believe to be the main UK Bingo sites and their position as of 26th of August 2007 - it is provided merely as a guide.

If you know of a site I've missed, or of a change of circumstances in the licensing of any of these sites, contact Playing Bingo with the updated information and it will be altered below. If you're not sure yourself, it's worth contacting a site you're promoting to see where they are licensed.

It's worth noting that a number of licensing areas have applied to join the Isle of Man and Alderney in their approved status - but we don't know if anyone else has been accepted yet. A number of online sites are also in the process of getting licensed in accepted areas, so this list is liable to change.

UPDATE 1: As of January 2008, Tasmania was added to the list of White Listed areas, however there are currently no UK Bingo sites that I'm, aware of licensed there.

UPDATE 2: As of November the 21st 2008 the area of Antigua And Barbuda will be added to the White List after previously being rejected.
